Freedom from Pornography and Sex Addiction
begins with God!
whoever Walks in integrity walks securely
Many people believe that pornography addiction and sex addiction are one in the same. Although the sexual nature of both addictions makes them similar, there are fundamental differences between both to the point where they are not that similar at all. A porn addict can satisfy his/her urges by merely looking at a magazine or watching a video. The sex addict, however, is continuously on the hunt for new partners of the same or opposite sex and new avenues in which to express their sexuality. While sex addicts are usually very social people, porn addicts are more likely to withdraw, spending much of their time alone, in front of their computer, to avoid face-to-face encounters. Many of the porn addicts do not consider what they are doing to be adultery because it is not physical, however this type of mindset is skewed, and the Bible speak directly on it in Matthew 5:28. “But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.”

“Whoever walks in integrity walks securely, but he who makes his ways crooked will be found out.” Proverbs 10:9 (ESV)

“Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires, and greed, which is idolatry.” Colossians 3:5
The Apostle Paul is clear on the matter of sexual sin, in 1 Corinthians 6:19-20. The Message translation says, "There’s more to sex than mere skin on skin. Sex is as much a spiritual mystery as physical fact. As written in Scripture, “The two become one.” Since we want to become spiritually one with the Master, we must not pursue the kind of sex that avoids commitment and intimacy, leaving us lonelier than ever—the kind of sex that can never “become one.” There is a sense in which sexual sins are different from all others. In sexual sin, we violate the sacredness of our own bodies, these bodies that were made for God-given and God-modeled love, for “becoming one” with another. “Don’t you realize that your body is a sacred place, the place of the Holy Spirit? Don’t you see that you can’t live however you please; squandering what God paid such a high price for? The physical part of you is not some piece of property belonging to the spiritual part of you. God owns the whole works. So let people see God in and through your body."
